A hot topic in many cities are nightly rentals. Almost all buyers ask if properties in Mammoth Lakes can be rented out as a nightly vacation rental. The general rule of thumb is that <a href="http://homes.nexthomemammoth.com/homes-for-sale/?Address=Mammoth+Lakes%2C+CA&PriceMin=&PriceMax=&PropertyType=3&Beds=&Baths=">condos</a> can be rented out on a nightly basis, but <a href="http://homes.nexthomemammoth.com/homes-for-sale/?Address=Mammoth+Lakes%2C+CA&PriceMin=&PriceMax=&PropertyType=1&Beds=&Baths=">single-family homes</a> have to be rented out long term (30 days or longer). There are a few exceptions to this rule in each category, but not too many. The very large custom homes along Little Eagle ski run (Juniper Ridge) were built in a zone which allows nightly rentals, along with another development closer to the Village called Graybear. Both have large single-family homes which can be rented nightly, but they sell between $3-5 million so they are not affordable to many people. On the flipside, there are a couple condo complexes built around 2006 or 2007 that were built for workforce housing which do not allow nightly rentals. They intent was to keep them affordable for full time residents with low HOA’s and few, if any, amenities. Other than that, all other condos can be rented on a nightly basis. Multi-Family properties, like a duplex or fourplex can not be rented out nightly, only long term.
Over the years there has a been a few times the nightly rental rules were challenged. A few years back there was a vote that did not pass which would have allowed single-family homes to become nightly rentals. In the past few months there have been talks of the Mammoth Lakes Town Counsel placing a <a href="https://monocounty.ca.gov/community-development/page/short-termtransient-rentals">moratorium on new nightly rental permits</a>, but nothing official as of yet. The idea is that if there is a limit on nightly rental permits then locals could afford to purchase as pricing would get pulled down, or more owners would start doing long term rentals instead of short-term vacation rentals. Mammoth was built on the foundation that condos were rentals and most were even built with on-site rental offices. Most of these rental offices are not used anymore, but it laid out the framework for the condo rentals. From discussions It appears that this will also not pass if it ever comes to a vote.
Last week Mono County did pass a moratorium on new nightly rental permits. This would affect June Lake, Crowley Lake and surrounding areas. The county only has a very small number of current permits and only have 3 new applicants. Mammoth Lakes is not part of this area and about 75% of the town’s income is derived from <a href="https://www.townofmammothlakes.ca.gov/201/Transient-Occupancy-Tax-Information">transient occupancy taxes</a>, so I don’t see anything changing the nightly rental rules.

It has been a long-awaited transition of moving the flow of visiting air passengers to the Eastern Sierras down to an entrance point holding a lower elevation, where the weather is more stable and the air field is more accessible.
<a href="https://www.united.com/en/us">United Airlines</a> in conjunction with the <a href="https://www.townofmammothlakes.ca.gov/">Town of Mammoth Lakes</a> & <a href="https://www.monocounty.org/">Mono County tourism</a> proudly wrapped up 2021 with the introduction of commercial flight service into Bishop, California. This rumored air service commenced and the future plans for the Eastern Sierra Regional Airport in <a href="https://bishopvisitor.com/">Bishop, California</a> are big, bold, and on the rise.
Starting in December of 2021 United Airlines offered direct flights to and from <a href="https://www.flydenver.com/">Denver (DEN)</a>, <a href="https://www.flysfo.com/">San Francisco (SFO</a>), & <a href="https://www.flylax.com/">Los Angeles (LAX)</a> International Airports. Extending a seat of enjoyment on the Canadian Regional Jet with choices from first class, premium, economy, & basis economy seating. These flights are scheduled to continue through the end of March 2022. United expects to offer a limited summer flight schedule for 2022 with service to and from San Franciso (SFO) and will pick back up again for the winter service of 2022/2023. Stay tuned and up to date with the latest air schedule at <a href="https://www.united.com/en/us">United.com</a>.
Transportation to and from Bishop/Mammoth Lakes has been provided by several local transportation companies including the very reliable and reputable <a href="https://www.mawshuttle.com/">Mammoth All Weather Shuttle (MAWS)</a>. <a href="https://www.estransit.com/">Eastern Sierra Transit</a> has also been a huge contributor to the success of these new regional flights by committing to safely and reliably transporting visitors to their specific individual destinations throughout Inyo & Mono county.
If you’re a Southern California resident and are still set on flying directly into Mammoth Yosemite Airport to take full advantage of your <a href="https://www.ikonpass.com/">IKON pass</a> then there’s a great new option to arriving via air travel from several Southern California destinations. <a href="https://www.advancedairlines.com/">Advanced Airlines</a> has proudly taken over as the public charter flights, servicing, <a href="https://www.cityofhawthorne.org/departments/public-works/airport">Hawthorne Municipal Airport (HHR)</a>, <a href="https://www.millionair.com/locations/bur/">Burbank (BUR),</a> and <a href="https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/dpw/airports/palomar.html">McClellan-Palomar Airport (CLD)</a>.
The success of these flights, deeply rely on the local support, just as much as the visiting traffic. If you are local to the Eastern Sierra’s and would like to take advantage of the seasonal flight service on both United Airlines and/or Advanced Air you can receive a <a href="https://www.visitmammoth.com/industry/flylocal/">local discount code</a> by inquiring at <a href="https://www.visitmammoth.com/industry/">VisitMammoth.com</a>.
The famous <a href="https://www.nps.gov/jomu/index.htm">John Muir</a> once said, “Going to the mountains is going home” and in a valiant attempt to streamline a reliable air service in the Eastern Sierra, a huge thank you is due to all entities working together to bring the people home!

Mammoth Lakes is known as a huge winter destination for die-hard skiers and snowboarders. However, if you happen to be someone who comes up in the winter with your family and you don’t want to go skiing on the mountain there is an abundancy of other fun activities.
One of my favorite activities is to go cross country skiing which honestly, if you can walk, then you can do it. Many people go up to <a href="https://www.tamaracklodge.com/">Tamarack Lodge</a> at the top of Lake Mary which is also run by <a href="https://www.mammothmountain.com/">Mammoth Mountain</a>. It can be a fun day and daily tickets are inexpensive, starting about $28 plus the equipment rental fee. Grab a map from the hut where you rent gear grab and wander through the trail system. However, if you want to save some money and really have a nice quiet time, head to the Shady Rest near the entrance to town on the free groomed trails. You can rent cross country gear at <a href="https://kittredgesports.com/">Kittridge</a> for about $17 a day, then park near the visitor’s center, or the Shady Rest parking lot. From those points you can access and relatively flat, groomed, cross county trail system. The Shady Rest parking lot is also the launching point for the snowmobilers who use the trails on the opposite side. This entire area is also the best place to walk your dog in the winter or summer which you can do on either of the trail systems. Tip: when it is a complete white-out snowstorm, try, Shady Rest as it can be quiet and stunning. You will be down under the trees which act like a barrier, and it can look like a magical winter wonderland.
Another fun thing to do in the winter is ice skating. Of course, there is the ice-skating rink in town, but have an adventure and head out to one of the lakes to go lake skating. This activity is very weather dependent generally only happens for a month or so depending on the snowfall and temperatures. Make sure to check the <a href="https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=37.6488&lon=-118.9779#.Yh8QnejMK38">weather conditions</a> and bring safety measures. The <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/755914787814022/">Eastern Sierra Ice Skating Facebook page</a> is good for some current information. Over the years this has been my families favorite since we get to try different lakes and there is usually a huge group of people are out having fun. If you just want to sit back and watch then head up to Twin Lakes where you can usually see ice skaters and a pick-up hockey game.
After a hard day on the mountain, or if the cold weather is not your favorite, then grab a towel and a bathing suit and head down to the hot springs near the airport. A few of the most popular are Wild Willy’s, Rock Tub, and Hilltop which you can find online on google maps. If that doesn’t quite interest you, then a day trip down to Bishop to Keogh Hot Springs is a popular destination for locals. It is a natural hot springs pool that is an amazing temperature all year around. Also, Bishop if usually warm enough to enjoy weather in the 70’s during the winter. It is not fancy, but it is nice and relaxing, and the kids love it. There is a snack bar and a large grass area to relax and have a picnic. After that stop in Bishop for a <a href="http://goodearthyogurt.com/">frozen yogurt at The Good Earth</a>.
If you want a fast adventure, then try snowmobiling. Mammoth Mountain has adventure packages, but a good place to go is just north on the 395 to <a href="https://snowmobilemammoth.com/">DJ’s Snowmobiling Adventures</a>. You can’t miss it as it is just on the side of the freeway before the Scenic Loop exit. They provide helmets and offer guided tours or rental packages for single or double snowmobiles. The trails from the rental run from easy to moderate depending how adventurous you wish to be.
In the end, there are a lot of different activities than just skiing and snowboarding in Mammoth Lakes. Try and branch out and find out how much more there is to offer!2022-03-05T17:28:00-07:002022-03-05T17:41:29-07:00Brandee Dell'Aringatag:sierraresortrealestate.com,2012-09-20:19280Mammoth Creek Park's Newest Addition<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/332/image/Mammoth_Creek_Park_-_Multi-Use_Facility.jpg" width="397" height="298" alt="Mammoth Creek Park" style="float: left;" /><a href="https://www.visitmammoth.com/">Mammoth Lakes</a> is a playground for most with terrain for all different kinds of activities. No matter what season you choose to visit there will always be a full list of outdoor adventures just waiting to be had. In addition to our beautiful natural-terrain we use as our backyard, the town of mammoth lakes is proudly building a new indoor multi-use and recreation zone facility located just past some of our favorite restaurants on Old Mammoth Road at <a href="https://www.visitmammoth.com/adventure/mammoth-creek-park/">Mammoth Creek Park</a> - West.
This sleek and modern prefabricated tensile sprung facility will span approximately 40,000 square feet and will soon become the home to many indoor events, activities, and future memories. As this will be a year-round facility the anticipated winter activities will give the locals and visitors in Mammoth Lakes a new recreation space for après ski. Just because the <a href="https://www.mammothmountain.com/">ski lifts</a> stop running that doesn’t mean your fun in this winter wonderland has to end.
This new <a href="https://www.townofmammothlakes.ca.gov/773/Multi-Use-Facility">multi-use facility</a> will house an Olympic size ice rink for about half the year and intends to include winter activities including but not limited to: Ice Skating, Figure Skating, Hockey leagues, Broomball, Curling leagues, Birthday Parties & Special Events.
In the summertime and warmer months of the year this <a href="https://www.townofmammothlakes.ca.gov/773/Multi-Use-Facility">multi-use facility</a> will transform into a recreation zone and intends to cover the ice rink with what are commonly known as sport tiles. Some of the summer activities will include but not be limited to Roller Skating, Street Hockey, Small-sided soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Dodgeball, Tailgate games, Skate ramps, Community Events, Birthday Parties & Special Events.
This project has been a long time coming and started back in 2014 with the town staff discussions of improvements to existing multi-use and recreation facilities. After countless meetings, planning, voting, funding, and so much more we find ourselves jumping forward to present day in 2022 with news of construction to be taking place in spring of 2022. You can follow along with the most recent updates and milestone timelines at the <a href="https://www.townofmammothlakes.ca.gov/">Town of Mammoth Lakes website</a>.
The addition to the Mammoth Creek Park will be a very exciting new development and a very big accomplishment for our local community. Mammoth Lakes is notoriously known as a great escape and unbelieve playground for nature enthusiasts and with this new development we can look forward to more fun and exciting times for the <a href="https://nexthomemammoth.com/">future in Mammoth Lakes. </a>

Now that you finally have a vacation property in <a href="https://www.townofmammothlakes.ca.gov/">Mammoth Lakes</a>, do you update it, or leave it in it’s dated condition? If you plan on renting your property on a nightly rental program then updating it will generate more bookings and income than properties that are not updated. Vacationers are tired of paying high prices for a rental that is old, smelly and outdated. An updated property does not need to be entirely remodeled with expensive finishes and furnishings. A remodeled condo just needs to have some of the basics to make it an enjoyable experience for the renters. A few updates can go a long way to enhance the appeal of a property. Updating the flooring, furnishings, paint and appliances can go a long way in changing the look and feel of a property.
The first and easiest is to install <a href="https://mountaincarpetinc.com/">new flooring</a> throughout. Most owners are smartly using the new LVF products which is a <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/369224869430691766/">luxury vinyl flooring</a> that comes in a massive array of wood-like colors and plank sizes. The best part about this flooring is that it is waterproof, and if a water intrusion happens it can be removed and reinstalled. It is also scratch and dent resistant making it a very durable flooring. Another benefit with this flooring is that it can be installed in kitchen and bathrooms making a nice seamless look throughout. Although, it is still ideal to have tile or stone at the front door, or any door leading to the exterior the LVF can be used if needed.
The next item which can change the overall appearance of a property is fresh paint. Fresh paint in combination with the flooring will drastically change the look and feel of a place. A coat of fresh paint can brighten, or darken an interior giving it a cozy, or modern feel.
Another update I recommend is to make sure the furnishings are up to par. You might only need a few things to update the look, or you might need all new furnishings. Having updated furnishings will bring it into the current era and set it apart from the outdated rentals. One of the most important furnishings items to update is the bedroom mattresses. Make sure the beds are comfortable as it is the number one complaint in reviews because a good night sleep is important to everyone. Also, updating the sofa to a pull-out sofa bed is good as it can increase the sleeping capacity. The more a property can sleep, the more income it can generate. Along with the other basic furnishings, don’t forget to update any televisions and other electronics.
The final touch would be to have all the little items throughout to make your property turn-key and comfortable. These items might include throw blankets, games for kids, and all of the necessary kitchen and bathroom items. You could stay in the most remodeled property ever, but your vacation would not be enjoyable if it is missing the key elements one would need to cook, or relax by the fire.
Lastly, updating the kitchen appliances can update a kitchen without doing a full-blown kitchen remodel. You might notice I did not say it is necessary to remodel the entire kitchens and bathrooms. Of course, it would be ideal if you had the money and time to remodel the entire property, but we all know that can be costly, stressful, and hard to manage from afar. If there are some elements you can improve easily then go for it, but the basic items above will improve the property with the least amount of hassle.
Once you implement some or all of these recommendations you should be ready to rent out more often and compete with the best of listings. It will also allow you to further enjoy your own property when you come to stay!2021-12-31T17:13:00-07:002021-12-31T17:26:18-07:00Brandee Dell'Aringatag:sierraresortrealestate.com,2012-09-20:14767Best Time to Buy Real Estate<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/332/image/Webp.net-resizeimage.png" width="653" height="253" />

5 Must-Know Tips Before You Power Up The Pressure Washer
<img src="http://bluebrokerconfig.homesconnect.com/AccountData/150000000/Newsletter/300pxPowerWashing.jpg" class="fr-dib fr-draggable" />
It’s the time of year when we start fantasizing about backyard picnics and BBQs in gorgeous weather. If your fantasy involves clean patio furniture and a grime-free deck, you’ve probably considered doing some power washing. Before you get started, here are some things you need to know.
1. Power and pressure washing are not the same thing.<br />Power washing and pressure washing both use streams of high pressure water to clean surfaces. However, power washing uses a heating element and pressure washing does not. Knowing which option to use can help you get a better clean and avoid damaging your property.<br /><br />Power washing is the heavier duty option. Use it for large areas like extra-large driveways, hard surfaces that can stand up to the heat, and to get rid of extreme mold, moss, grease, and dirt.<br /><br />Pressure washing is safer for surfaces. Use it when you have a smaller area like a deck, patio, or driveway to clean or if you need to clean softer surfaces like tile, wood decks, and siding. Pressure washing is also safer on masonry, concrete, and brick.<br /><br />2. Sometimes you shouldn’t do either.<br />Power and pressure washing are effective because they’re very strong cleaning options, but they may be too strong for some objects and parts of your home. Anything painted, asphalt roofing, laminar sandstone, stained wood, and anything old will probably be damaged or destroyed if you try to pressure or power wash them.<br /><br />3. All cleaning solutions are not created equally.<br />Adding the right cleaning solution to your water will give you better results than water alone. Just be sure to use the correct solution; the wrong one may destroy what you were cleaning. Different materials need different cleaner: the soap you would use for your deck and fence has different chemicals than the one you would use for your home’s siding. Premixed soaps will list the areas it can be used on. Use the right cleaner for what you want to clean.<br /><br />4. You could seriously injure yourself or others.<br />You may look at a power or pressure washer and think it’s basically a high powered garden hose, but these machines are actually quite dangerous. The water comes out with up to 2,000 pounds of pressure. That’s plenty of power to send chipped off bits of stone or concrete ricocheting at someone. When power or pressure washing, remember to
never spray a person or animal - it could injure or kill them.
use safety glasses, goggles, or a full face shield.
wear closed toe boots or shoes.
cover all electrical outlets.
stay at least 5-6 feet back from the area you’re cleaning.
start at the lowest setting and test it on a hard surface before moving to windows or soft surfaces.
use the right nozzle for the task.
<br /><br />
5. Cold weather may damage your property if you’ve recently power or pressure washed.<br />You don’t see many people out pressure or power washing in winter. There’s a good reason for that. It can take several days for an object to dry completely after cleaning, and if the water in or on what you’re cleaning freezes, it can expand and damage your property. Make sure there aren’t any expected freezes for about a week after you power or pressure wash.<br /><br />With warmer weather on the horizon, now is a great time to spruce up your old home or to find a new house to make your own. Mammoth Lakes is the premier destination in California for numerous mountain activities including skiing, hiking, biking and much more.

The Mammoth Lakes Basin is located on Lake Mary Rd, just past the Village at Mammoth. This area features 5 main lakes that can be accessed by car in the summer. In the winter these lakes become much more isolated and can only be reached by x-c skis or snowshoes. It is an 8 mile round trip to see all 5 lakes. The groomed side of the trail requires a Mammoth Mountain x-c pass, however you are free to adventure on the ungroomed path adjacent to the ski trail. The main lakes featured on this trail are Twin Lakes, Lake Mary, Lake Mamie, Horseshoe Lake, and Lake George. However, there are several other lakes you can explore into the backcountry, experience required. During the summer time this area is a family friendly campground with summer activities like fishing, boating, sup boarding, and hiking. Be sure to keep your food in bear safe containers. Seat Position Adjustment
?When it comes to your seat position, it is important that it is correctly set, as this will allow you to have the correct body position when both climbing and descending a hill.
?Climbing
?When it comes to climbing a hill, your seat should be at the perfect height to allow you to pedal at the highest efficiency. The way in which you can check that you are at the correct height is by having your pedal at the bottom; your whole leg should be slightly bent. The ideal leg extension is around 80-90 percent, as this will allow you to have the most powerful and efficient pedal
Descending
?When going down a hill, it is best to have your seat a few inches lower than the height you had it set at when climbing. With a lowered seat, it means that you have an overall better control of the bike and gives you a boost in confidence when you descend steep sections. Using trial and error will be the best way to find the best height which feels the best to you.
?Braking
?This may sound like one of the easiest of tips, but it is essential to know how and when to brake to ensure that you feel both comfortable and confident when riding.
?How You Should Brake
?When you brake, it should be done in a controlled and very consistent manner, this prevents any sudden stopping from occurring and throwing you from the bike. The main braking force <a href="https://www.foldingbikezone.com/folding-mountain-bikes-work/" target="_blank">comes from the front brake</a>. However, too much of the front brake can cause you to flip over the front bars.
?Ensuring that you are ready for braking is essential, by having your heels pointing down and bending your knees and arms, this will help you stay in full control of your bike.
<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/332/image/Guy-Riding-A-Bike.jpg" width="640" height="360" />
?When You Should Brake
?Whether you are approaching a hill or a turn, it is important to brake at the correct time to ensure that you don’t corner too hard. Braking in good time and allowing the momentum to take you through the turn, allows you to have full control on the turn and exit the corner with a faster speed.
<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/332/image/Bike-Infographic.jpg" width="587" height="1386" />
?Falling Off
?Of course, there isn’t a single person that likes to <a href="http://www.bikeradar.com/us/gear/article/reduce_cycle_crash_injuries-24316/" target="_blank">fall off their bike</a>, but there is never a single person who hasn’t fallen off their bike. But there are some important things to know when it comes to falling off to help protect yourself.
?Try to keep your arms tucked in; this will help to protect you from a broken arm as most people’s natural reaction is to put their arms out to break their fall. When you fall, it is best just to get up, ensure that you haven’t sustained an injury, check that your bike can still be ridden. Get back on and carry on your way.2017-04-09T09:18:00-07:002017-04-10T09:17:47-07:00Maggie Larsontag:sierraresortrealestate.com,2012-09-20:10417Mammoth Lakes Starwood EstatesLuxurious Starwood Estates in Mammoth Lakes, CA

<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/332/image/wes1562po.78798_md.jpg" width="343" height="230" />
Then you may want to consider filling out a change of address card that includes the words, Westin Monache. It’s a delightful condominium development within reach of the Westin Monache Resort’s finest amenities. And I do mean fine.
The renowned, Mammoth Lakes resort is recognized by world travelers for its signature Heavenly Beds® and Heavenly Baths®. If you haven’t traveled in style for awhile, please allow us to explain. Initially introduced in the late 1990s, the luxurious beds are manufactured by the well respected firm, Simmons. They feature thick, lush, pillow top mattresses with reinforced edges. And they come with a choice of either low or standard profile box springs.
As for the otherworldly baths, they feature therapeutic, spa-like, dual shower heads that offer phenomenal water pressure and a handful of powerful jets per head. They were custom manufactured for the hospitality chain in the early 2000s by the esteemed, centuries old, American firm, <a href="http://www.speakmancompany.com/pages/aboutus_whosusing">Speakman® Company</a>. And the good news is both the beds and shower heads are often included in Westin Monache condos.
In addition, Mammoth real estate owners that choose to make Westin Monache their homes have access to other, highly coveted, onsite amenities too. The long list includes a heated swimming pool, serene spa, workout room, concierge services and a restaurant. Known as the Whitebark, it serves breakfast and dinner daily. Plus, there is a fabulous lounge menu available too. Food you’re likely to encounter there are thick, all-natural elk rack chops, free range duck, bison short ribs, Kobe beef sliders and Wester Ross salmon. With rich meals like that available a fork’s throw away from one’s doorstep, it’s a good thing the condominium development’s onsite fitness center is open 24 hours!
If you get tired of the onsite workout room, there is plenty that Mammoth real estate owners may enjoy nearby. For instance, you could bike the Gondola, shop at the village, hike, ride horses, swim and ski. On rainy days, there’s always a lot of indoor entertainment available in the area too. Listen to music, check out local art or catch one the latest, hottest movies. Just because it’s warmer outside doesn’t mean you can’t still visit <a href="http://www.mammothmountain.com/">Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort</a>. In fact, there are a number of fun activities that take place here during the summer months, including one you won’t want to miss: gondola rides toward the summit.
Gondola rides on Mammoth Mountain differ from others, as they are not a boat, but instead resemble a ski lift. A gondola ride will allow you to see an area of more than 400 miles, including numerous mountain peaks. The trip will take you an astounding 11,000 feet to the summit of the mountain, and will allow you to relax in the comfort of your own car while making the picturesque trek.
At the top of the summit, you can enjoy a delicious meal at the Top of the Sierra Café, which specializes in serving salads, soups and sandwiches. You can also elect to have a picnic lunch included in the cost of your gondola ride, or simply grab a light snack from the café. Plenty of seating is provided overlooking the magnificent valley below.
Stop by and visit the interpretive center while you’re at the summit. This center will provide you with the natural history of Mammoth Mountain and the Eastern Sierra in general. Some of the displays offered include those associated with the volcanic history, cultural heritage and geology of the region.
Mammoth Mountain also contains numerous hiking trails that can be accessed from the summit as well. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could even hike back down the mountain rather than riding the gondola back. You can obtain a free hiking guide at the Adventure Center located near the boarding entrance to the gondola.
Don’t miss the upcoming main event on the mountain September 18–21:
<a href="http://www.kamikazebikegames.com/">MAMMOTH KAMIKAZE BIKE GAMES</a>:
The Kamikaze Bike Games is coming back for its second year. The Kamikaze Bike Games in Mammoth promises to produce excitement for all things biking. Enduro, XC, Two Stage Cyclocross, Pro GRT DH, Legend races, Kamikaze, Dual Slalom, Freeride and even kids races wrapped up in a fun, festival style celebration. Expanding from last year, and with a spot on the calendar strategically between Interbike and Rampage, the turn out should be impressive and opened up to a more international field of riders. Coming back again this year will be Speed & Style, which was a huge hit for the freeride debut last year in Mammoth. It’s going to be the bike bash of the year!
Gondola rides on Mammoth Mountain are just one more thing to love about this area. Investing in real estate in this area will allow you to visit the resort any time you’d like, whether you’re buying vacation property or a year-round residence. Mammoth Lakes is a multi-season area where you can enjoy a full year of outdoor activities
<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/332/image/Twin_Lakes.jpg" width="540" height="960" />
Here are some great places to go for your <a href="http://www.SierraResortRealEstate.com">hiking, biking, and water skiing</a> pleasures during the summer.
Hiking:
There are many hiking trails into the Inyo National Forest with magnificent views. On these trails, you may discover mountain top views, crystal blue lakes, babbling brooks and streams, and quiet areas to relax. In the Sierras, there are day hikes, casual strolls to strenuous elevation changing hikes. You can also do overnight hikes but these require special permits, which have quotas for overnighters, so you need to get there early to get your permit.
Mammoth Lakes’ area provides more than seventy trails throughout the area, from strolling to challenging hikes. Here are just a few of the many hikes from easy to moderate:
Easy:
Lakes Basin Area: Off Lake Mary Road provides shorter trails near Lake George. Panorama Dome: The dome is an easy ½-mile hike that begins near the bridge of Twin Lakes. The trailhead is on Lake Mary Road past the turnoff to Twin Lakes. Rock Creek: Most of the trail is near a cold-water creek. Aspens, willows, and other foliage during an early October hike will show you spectacular colors of yellows, oranges, and reds. Devils Postpile National Monument (nps.gov/depo): A 0.4-mile hike leads Devils Postpile a unique geologic feature protected by the National Park Service. There are about eight miles of trails within the park. Make sure to bring plenty of water in the summer months.
Moderate:
Shadow Lake and Lake Ediza: A three and a half to six mile: Take the turnoff to Agnew Meadows campground and from the trailhead parking lot, follow the signs for "Shadow Lake/River Trail.” You will want to start early because of the midday sun along the exposed switchbacks. Owens River Gorge: This area is a great place for watching the rock-climbing crowd. You can access the trails from Highway 395, ten miles north of Bishop at the Owens Gorge Pipeline Road. There is also great fishing and wildlife viewing here as well. Bottomless Pit (What a name!): This 0.75-mile hike to the viewpoint is short and steep, which is why this is a moderate hike. You can access the trail from Tamarack; walk through the campground, over the bridge, following the road until you see the trailhead sign.
Mountain Biking
There are more trails available as soon as the snow melts then there is time to enjoy before the next snow falls. One of the best areas to bike is at the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park. The second best place is Inyo National Forest. These two areas offer you single track trails and dirt roads for excellent riding experiences.
Water Skiing
Water-skiing and wake boarding remain favorite activities in Mammoth Lakes. You can water ski in crystal-clear lakes such as Topaz, Klondike, and Grant all open to powerboats and water-crafts.
Here are some lakes that allow water skiing:
Klondike Lake is only three miles north of Big Pine and this small lake is a popular local spot for swimming, water-skiing, sailing and windsurfing. Klondike Lake is reached by a dirt road off US 395 0.7 mi north of Reynolds Rd. (there is no roadside sign; there is a left-hand turn pocket for those coming from the north).
Topaz Lake: straddles the California-Nevada state line. Topaz is popular with boaters and water skiers who generally keep their distance from the anglers.
Grant Lake: is the largest of the lakes. After 10:00 am, speedy watercraft may take to the lake, and sports such as water-skiing, wake boarding, and jet skiing may be enjoyed. Most of the shoreline is accessible to the public by unpaved roads that connect to both California Route 158 and U.S. 395.
There are so many places to go and visit while being outdoors enjoying hiking, biking, and water skiing. To find out more about the area and your visit here, by coming to our <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Maggie-Larson-Sierra-Resort-Real-Estate-Mammoth-Lakes-CA/172331229521329?ref=hl">Facebook page</a>, <a href="http://www.SierraResortRealEstate.com">contacting us</a>, or giving us a call at (855) GO-MAGGIE. If you are enamored with the idea of having your own pond and running creek too, the beautiful home on <a href="http://www.sierraresortrealestate.com/property-search/detail/1/104796/165-hilton-creek-drive-crowley-lake-ca-93546/?searchid=1254406&detoffset=3&sortby=m.Price%20DESC">Hilton Creek Drive</a> may be of interest as well. Built in 1989, it sits on a spacious, 1.01-acre tract of land that shares a border with the Inyo National Forest. So you won’t have to worry about feeling fenced in or under the constant, watchful eyes of neighbors. In addition, the forest is home to <a href="http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/inyo/recreation/wintersports/recarea/?recid=20236&actid=33">horse trails</a> that are open to the public.
Of course they are not the only places in Mono County that offer tempting conveniences and luxurious amenities. At present, there are also homes with mind-blowing views of Crowley Lake and the surrounding mountains. Some of them come equipped with niceties like oversized decks, covered porches, state-of-the-art home systems and automated sprinklers.
As for Crowley Lake, the BLM campground and the fish camp, they are open to all Mono County residents and visitors alike. Speaking of which, the busiest time of year for those spots tends to be the summer months when the fish are biting. Desert Springs Trout Farm to Stock Trout in Mammoth Lakes this Year
Fish farm to ensure another great fishing season in the Mammoth Lakes Basin
Mammoth Lakes, Calif. (March 26, 2014) — As fishing opener nears, the latest angling news in the Eastern Sierra is that the Town of Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Lakes Tourism are working with Desert Springs Trout Farm for fish stocking in the Mammoth Lakes Basin for 2014.
“Conway Ranch’s water issues are very unfortunate, but luckily we have found a solution for this year with Desert Springs,” explained Mammoth Lakes Tourism Executive Director, John Urdi.
Desert Springs will provide at least 11,000 pounds of fish compared to the 7,600 pounds (nearly a 45 percent increase year over year) the Lakes Basin received last year, which means anglers will have an even greater opportunity to land a big one this summer.
“The fish that will be stocked in the Lakes Basin would be the same types of trout that Eastern Sierra anglers have caught in the past, from browns to rainbows, etc.,” said David Mcfarland, partner of Desert Springs Trout Farm. The trout will also be the trophy-sized, 3-5 pounders to which Eastern Sierra anglers are accustomed.
“Not only will we continue to have frequent fish stocking, but in the Mammoth Lakes Basin we will have even more fish,” Urdi continued. The extra fish are coming from a combination of Town of Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Lakes Tourism funding.
The extra fish mean the lakes will continue to be stocked well into October ensuring great fishing opportunities through the end of the season on Nov. 15. Anglers visiting in the fall at the end of the season will have just as good of a shot to catch a huge fish as someone visiting earlier.
As always, anglers 16 years of age and older must have a fishing license. You can purchase an annual, one-day or two-day fishing license (valid for two consecutive calendar days). Information concerning license requirements, places to purchase and fees maybe obtained from the <a href="http://www.dfg.ca.gov/licensing/fishing/fishdescrip.html">Department of Fish & Wildlife</a> or by calling 760-934-2664. Fishing licenses may be purchased in several locations around the town of Mammoth Lakes.

<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/332/image/mammoth-lakes-9633169_xl__large.jpg" width="640" height="253" />
Sometimes living in an area where cars, buildings, and the other overwhelming aspects that come with living in a city become too much, thoughts often turn to living in an area where you can be more in tune with nature and start doing the things that you love. Do you miss <a href="http://www.SierraResortRealEstate.com" title="Hiking, biking, skiing,">hiking, biking, skiing,</a> and other activities without having to drive miles and miles out of your way? Do you want to live in a place where you don't have to travel away from your home just to see a forest, a lake, or a mountain peak? Or do you just want to live away from the city? Fortunately, there are areas all over California that fit this description.
One area where you can just get away and enjoy nature (permanently or just to get away) would be Mammoth Lakes. There are many different condominiums, homes, and even lots for sale or lease that the professionals at Sierra Resort Property Management can introduce you to.
Mammoth Lakes is an absolutely beautiful area for those looking to get away. This area is surrounded by the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains, and is bordered by the Ansel Adams and John Muir Wilderness areas. It is within a lush, beautiful forest. A mere thirty-two miles from Mammoth Lakes is the entrance to Yosemite National Park. Because of its ideal and stunning location, it is a great location for nature lovers and people who just want to get away from all of the noise, pollution, and congestion that come with living in a larger city.
There are many different areas for its residents to go hiking. One example of a hiking spot is the Twin Lakes Trails, located close to historical Mill City, California. This dog friendly trail is a full day's hike, so this would be an excellent opportunity to break out the camping gear and enjoy nature to its fullest. This trail takes you past the Bottomless Pit, the Seven Lakes viewpoint, as well as many other breath taking view points along the way. There are also several other hiking trails in the Mammoth Lakes area.
There are also many different biking trails that the bikers who travel this area will definitely want to check out. The Mammoth Lake Mountain Bike Park is a very exciting biking area that is not only fun, but pleasing to the eye. This biking trail offers over eighty miles of scenic cross country tracks and adrenaline rush inducing downhill rides. Although this bike park is currently closed for the seasons, be sure to check this place out once they reopen in the spring.
The Mammoth Mountain Ski Area is definitely a ski resort to consider visiting. Not only does this area offer awesome, mind blowing slopes, but it offers many other attractions as well. They offer lessons, lodges, restaurants, and airplane rides along with many other exciting and worthwhile activities.
Mammoth Lakes is not only an awesome area to visit, but it's a really cool place to live as well. For more information about this location, <a href="http://www.SierraResortRealEstate.com" title="contact us">contact us</a> Maggie Larson Mammoth today!

The weather here is quite mild and the people are very laid back and friendly. The area itself has a small population of a little over nine thousand people. There are also plenty of things to see and activities to do in this area that make it an absolutely delightful place to live in. If these things aren't right in Bishop, they are no more than two hours away. Bikers, hikers, and those who just have the desire to see more of nature's bounty can all agree that Bishop, California is the place to go to see and participate in all of their favorite sights and activities.
National Parks
For those who are just dying to see all of the natural wonders that California has to offer, Bishop is close enough to several of them that you'll have the opportunity to see some of the biggest names in state nature preserves. Visit Yosemite National Park and observe its breath taking views from the cliffs, see flowing streams and clear waters and get lost in nature. Experience the scorching hot biome of Death Valley and the scarce, but beautiful vegetation that the desert has to offer. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park are also a couple of the other national parks that are within a short driving distance of Bishop.
Hiking
Bishop also has something to offer for its hiking enthusiasts. There are many places to hike in and around Bishop that are exquisitely beautiful. One great spot to hike is the Bishop Pass Trail. This trail is one that is often traveled by hikers and is very well taken care of. After about eleven miles, the Bishop Pass Trail turns into the John Muir Trail. The entire hike, while it can be challenging, is a beautiful example of the many wilderness areas that California has to offer.
Biking
Bikers will quickly find that Bishop has some awesome spots to offer them as well. Bishop offers limitless areas for bikers to enjoy both a leisurely ride and challenging mountain biking. A great spot for mountain bikers is the White Mountains. This area also offers campgrounds and hiking trails as well.
Although Bishop and the surrounding area is abundant in things to do, the best thing about living in Bishop is its view of the rocky Sierra, the haunting Mojave Desert, and the glowing lights of Las Vegas. To find the perfect place to call your home, let the professionals at Sierra Resort Real Estate help you find the perfect place to settle down in Bishop. Getting out on the water in the wee hours of the morning, casting a line out and waiting for the fish to come your way… this is what many people call relaxation~
<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/332/image/1-blog.JPG" width="640" height="480" />
There’s something to be said for the tranquility fishing brings – communing with nature and being at peace with one’s own thoughts. Well, that’s great for the first hour or so, but then, like everyone else, you’ll be ready to catch some fish. I find myself getting rather impatient waiting for "Walter" to take my tasty garlic worm. I think I will add a gadget to my cute little pink tackle box this year. A porfable fish finder.....
Using a fish finder can make that easier. A fish finder is a device that locates fish underwater by employing sonar. Sonar uses pulses of sound to locate movement. Measurements and graphical displays aid the user in tracking and finding schools of fish. Fish finders are excellent tools to use when trying access the fish that dwell at lower depths.
You can get a fish finder in bait and tackle stores and even online. Hummingbird and Lowrance offer the best fish finders on the market. Both provide an image that is more like a picture, high definition screens, 2D format displays. Some fish finders also offer GPS plotting functionality so that you can chart a course. There’s even an Ethernet port to share coordinates between two units on high-end fish finders. These functionalities make fish finders easier to read and will render the user more accurate.
<a href="http://www.SierraResortRealEstate.com" title="Fishing">Fishing</a> is a relaxing past time for many people all over the world. It is also a great survival skill to learn. Many people who engage in this pastime have memories of fishing with their father or grandfather on a calm lake, whiling the hours away as you talked. Spending time on the open water is a treat to the senses. Now you can increase your potential for coming home with something to show for your hours of effort. Bring home a barrel full and make your day spent on the water that much more special.
Going fishing is more fun when you come home with a big haul. Invest in a fish finder and give yourself access to more fish than ever before. With the abundance of trout to be found in Mammoth Lakes, you can't go wrong.

<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/332/image/Mammoth_Lakes.jpg" width="336" height="448" />
For those of you that may have never heard of Fishmas before, it’s Mono County anglers’ code word for the start of trout season. This year, it’s set to cast off on April 26th. Here’s a tackle box full of information on how to enjoy the big day:
To begin with, you’ll need a place to hang your <a title="Fishing" href="http://www.sierraresortrealestate.com/">fishing</a> hat for the night and a fishing license. I can help you find the perfect overnight accommodations in Mono County. At the moment, there are so many beautiful places to rent or buy in the Eastern Sierras. Some of the properties offer direct lake access. Others are located within an easy walk or drive to the water’s edge. So just pick out a few fishing spots that you may want to try. Ones to consider are Convict Lake, Crowley Lake, Lundy Lake, Mammoth Lakes Basin and June Lake. Then let me know what your choices are. That way, I can narrow down the field.
As for the <a href="http://www.dfg.ca.gov/fishing/">fishing license</a>, you can buy one online through the state. Prices for 2014 licenses range from $15 to $125. The state also offers access to stocking reports. You can find fishing reports available through many Mono County marinas and fish camps too. Among those that offer such reports are the Crowley Lake Fish Camp, Gull Lake Marina and the Bridgeport Reservoir Marina. Water levels, temperatures and other fishing relevant information are available from the U.S. Geological Services' website as well.
Of course you’ll need some trout fishing gear too. No worries there because Mono County has its share of bait and tackle shops. Some of them are located within the area’s marinas. Examples include the Grant Lake Marina and the June Lake Marina. Others, like Annett’s Mono Village and Bell’s Sporting Goods, are located nearby. So well-tied flies and additional fishing supplies are never very far away. Stop on your way up in Bishop at locally owned <a href="http://www.hunt-fish-sierra.com/index.html">Reagan's Sporting Goods</a> for some hometown experience and goods.
To learn more about Mono County’s best fishing spots, please <a title="contact us" href="http://www.sierraresortrealestate.com/">contact us</a> at (855) GO-MAGGIE or send an <a href="mailto:ML@MaggieLarson.com">e-mail</a>. Mono County trout fishing tips are always welcome!

<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/332/image/Living_Area.JPG" width="640" height="480" />
As long as your <a href="http://www.SierraResortRealEstate.com/">Mammoth Real Estate</a> is priced correctly, then it should rent quickly, right? Except, what if you're competing with other rentals at the same price point? How do you make your property stand out? Deciding on a place can be an emotional choice as much as a budgetary one. If you make your interiors look warm, inviting, and cozy, then you can tip the rental decision in your favor. The following are some staging tips.
Fill your spaces. Bare floors, minimal accessories, and sparse furniture make rooms look cooler and are perfect for the summer. Go the opposite way to add warmth in the winter. Layer furry furniture throws and patterned pillows on your upholstered pieces so potential tenants look like they can wrap themselves in something warm. Add shag or Oriental rugs to the floors. Replace smooth, metallic accessories with ones made of rough natural materials, such as wood or stone.
Include Mother Nature. There is not a more beautiful place in the Eastern Sierra than Mammoth Lakes and nothing denotes the warmer spring and summer months like nature, so add container plants. Include winter-blooming plants both indoors and out for touches of color. Some examples include red poinsettias, yellow winter jasmine, pink snap dragons, and white cyclamens. The sound of water, such as from a tabletop fountain, also reminds renters of outdoor spaces.
Keep it bright. Lots of light can easily dispel winter gloom so turn on all your lights whenever potential renters come to inspect your place. You can always use timers to keep your spaces bright even when you're not there. Put lamps in dark corners and keep your porch lights on when it gets dark to welcome visitors. To multiply light sources, position them in front of mirrors and shiny objects.

<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/332/image/1231653_10201415031490079_94555091_n.jpg" width="460" height="259" />
This real estate data gathering firm recently released its listing of best places, with Mammoth Lakes coming in at the number 8 spot among all ski towns in the nation.
The top ski towns were chosen from among cities with a population of at least 2,500 people, along with at least one ski mountain that had been listed in Zranking’s Top 50 list. After narrowing down the towns that qualified, RealtyTrac then compared home values, foreclosure rates and vacancy rates among other factors in order to come up with the best locations for investors to purchase property in.
In fact, foreclosure rates played a significant part in the choice of cities. RealtyTrac looked at 2013 foreclosure rates as well as the amount of decrease in foreclosure numbers since 2010. The reason is that too much recent foreclosure activity could be bad for investors, since it might indicate that home values in the area are actually dropping.
Aside from real estate data, some of the other information that was considered included distance from the nearest airport, local rate of unemployment, and a “pure awesomeness factor.”The “pure awesomeness factor” dealt more with the quality of ski resorts in the local area, as well as the amenities the town had to offer. Mammoth Mountain was given high marks for its slope height, terrain features, and amount of annual snowfall.
The fact that Mammoth Lakes was named as a top investment town is good news for those who would like to purchase property here. However, they are not the only two enjoyable winter activities available in the Eastern Sierra. There are also plenty of places to go snowmobiling within easy access of our <a title="Mammoth" href="http://www.sierraresortrealestate.com/">Mammoth Lakes condos</a>.
In total, the Mammoth Lakes region is home to at least 80 incredible miles of groomed trails as well as ungroomed areas that people can explore alone or with a guide. Some of those trails are located within the Inyo National Forest’s Mammoth Lakes Ranger District. The ranger station is typically open daily, year round from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. It’s a good spot to stop and pick up trail status information.
Beginners may want to check out the <a href="http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/inyo/recreation/camping-cabins/recarea/?recid=21352&actid=92">Hot Creek Ski Trail</a>. It offers fairly easy going terrain and a chance to see the Hot Creek Geological site. The site features various size hot springs. The list of other popular trails within the forest’s confines includes, but isn’t limited to Inyo Craters, Minaret Vista, Sherwin Creek, Crater Flat and the Bald Mountain Lookout.
The Bald Mountain Lookout trail has three main things of note, sweeping views, a 9,104 foot elevation and a small, quaint warming hut. So you may want to save it for end of your snowmobiling day. While you’re there, don’t forget to sign the guestbook and look at the signatures of those that have been there before.
If you don’t want to cart your own snowmobiling equipment to our Mammoth Lakes condos, you don’t have to. There are several places in the area that provide rentals as well as the guided tours that we alluded to earlier. Among them are DJ’s Snowmobile Adventures and Mammoth Snowmobile Adventures. In most instances, rental clothing and helmets are available onsite too. Be sure to bring your valid driver’s license though. You are going to need it in order to secure your snowmobiling rentals.
After snowmobiling, you’ll be able to return to your Mammoth Lakes condos, thaw out and relax for the night. Mammoth Lakes condo amenities understandably vary per unit. However, some may feature hydronic heating, gourmet kitchens and ski-in/ski-out capabilities.

It’s the United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association’s beloved Unbound Series. Just in case you’re unaware of the event, here’s the super skinny:
The U.S. Snowboard and Freeski Association holds the <a href="https://www.usasa.org/regions/western-region/unbound.html">Unbound Series</a> each year. It includes a group of freeski and snowboarding events. Among them are the slopestyle, boardercross, halfpipe, skiercross, slalom and GS. There’s also a popular series of rail jams. The series’ participants have a chance to show off their skills, win medals and potentially qualify for the USASA Nationals.
As you can well imagine, the events attract young and old winter athletes from around the nation. Some come to watch and cheer on their favorite snowboarder or freeskier. Others come to participate in the various competitions as well as the raffle and swag giveaways.
This February, Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort will be hosting Unbound Series’ events on five nonconsecutive days. The first event is slated to kickoff on the 1st. The subsequent competitions will be held on the 8th, 9th and 23rd. We should also mention that an additional series event is planned for March 8th. Those interested in competing should contact the USASA directly for sign-up information.
Members of the 2013-2014 USASA Snowboard and Ski Teams are likely to be at Mammoth Mountain during the events. So visitors may get to rub ski or snowboard wax with celebrities too. The list of team members includes talented stars like Ethan Swadburg, Tania Prymak, Maggie Rose Carrigan and Ryan Stassel. Snowboard fans and Mammoth Mountain regulars alike may remember <a href="https://www.usasa.org/usasa-team/13-14-snowboard-team/418-ryan-stassel.html">Ryan Stassel</a> from last season. It was then that he placed 7th in the Mammoth Grand Prix. He’s a regular footer who traded in the winters of Alaska for a place in Truckee.
The Unbound Series isn’t the only ski and snowboarding event set to take place at Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort in February 2014 either. There’s also the renowned Korfiatis Kup, Stacey Cook Challenge, SCCSC races, FWRA GS, Brownlie’s Bullet and more.

<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/332/image/Happy_Valentines_Day.jpg" width="186" height="182" />
Now that the December holidays are over, it won’t be long before that cute little cherub starts shooting his arrows at you. So we wanted to take a moment and suggest that you consider planning a romantic escape to <a href="http://www.SierraResortRealEstate.com" title="Mammoth">Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort</a>. “What’s so romantic about Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort?”, you may ask. Oh let us count all of the fabulous ways!
For starters, it features an onsite delight known as the Double Eagle Spa & Resort. The spa is an excellent place to partake of a Sierra cleansing facial, massage and pedicure. Afterward, you’re likely to feel ultra relaxed and in the mood to enjoy an intimate dinner at one of the resorts many restaurants.
One of our favorites is The Lakefront. Aptly named, it offers couples unfettered views of the lake, sumptuous foods, sinful desserts, fine wines and few distractions. Perhaps you saw it highlighted in previous issues of Sunset Magazine, the New York Times and Bon Appétit. Either way, there are less than a dozen tables in the entire place. So if you do decide to dine there, be sure to call ahead and reserve one of them.
If you want to enjoy a bit of Mammoth Lake’s post-dinner nightlife, you may want to try the Underground too. It’s a rocking lounge/gastro pub that features live entertainment and stays open until 2 a.m. Fridays are one of the best nights to visit, thanks to <a href="http://filtermagazine.com/">FILTER Magazine</a>. That’s the evening that they use the venue’s stage to showcase hot up and comers like Fidlar, Bleached, Danny Brown and the Duffle Bag Divas.
There’s also plenty of high-end shopping on offer. Although that may not sound romantic at first, just think about how sexy your partner will feel clad in a leather jacket or fur coat from First Street Leather. You could also buy a nice bottle of wine to enjoy at home in front of the fireplace or an outdoor bonfire at The Village in Mammoth Lakes.
Lastly, you could spend the day skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, snowcat touring and riding the resort’s gondola. All five are phenomenal ways to enjoy the stunning, Eastern Sierra scenery and get your hearts racing at the same time. I could think of a few more but I'll let you use your imagination.

However, while Mammoth has gained increasing popularity in recent years as a summer vacation destination, due to the gorgeous scenery, the amazing hiking, and the world class level mountain bike trails, Mammoth is still most notoriously known as arguably the best skiing location and all around winter destination in California.

There are several such events currently scheduled to take place at <a href="http://www.SierraResortRealEstate.com" title="Mammoth">Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort</a> in the coming weeks. You may want to attend at least one of them with your loved ones:

The Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort’s village is slated to be the location of Holiday Celebrations, the Night of Lights, Woolly’s Saturday Parade and a New Year’s Eve Celebration Weekend in December 2013. We should also mention that Woolly’s Saturday Parade is slated to continue through April. It’s a great event for the kids especially since Santa is expected to be at the parade site too.
In January 2014, the ski resort is anticipated to keep the festivities going with a MLK Jr. and U.S. Sprint Grand Prix Weekend. Both are presently expected to run from Thursday, January 17th through Sunday, January 19th. As an avid snowboarder, I am personally excited about the <a href="http://ussnowboarding.com/news/sochi-spots-line-grand-prix">U.S. Sprint Grand Prix</a>. For those unfamiliar with it, the event features snowboarding and skiing professionals who have their eyes on participating in the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Some of the fearless female snowboarders expected to compete this year are Elena Hight, Gretchen Bleiler, Ellery Hollingsworth, Maddy Schaffrick and Kelly Clark. Of course male snowboarders will be competing as well. Among those to look for are Louie Vito, Scotty Lago, Matt Ladley, Luke Mitrani and Greg Bretz.
People interested in attending the ultra popular, historic event this year should make their plans now. We happen to know of properties located near the Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort. So we’d be more than happy to share that information with people looking for a place to stay within driving distance of the snowboarding and skiing competitions. Those that can’t make it here in January 2014 may want to catch some of the action on the NBC Sports Network and NBC instead.
In February, the celebrations are expected to be focused on U.S. Presidents Week, the 2014 Olympics and Valentine’s Day. The Olympic Celebration is currently scheduled to run all month long at the Village at Mammoth. Full details about the event, however, have yet to be released. So be sure to keep in touch with us.

The Eastern Sierra Mountains are home to a wonderful outdoor ice skating rink~
You may want to think about starting your family’s outing at Toomey’s Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Located in the village on Minaret Road, it opens daily at 7 a.m. They serve such great dishes as coconut mascarpone pancakes, egg sandwiches, fruit laden oatmeal and island-style French toast. The beverages are also flavorful and hot.
From there, bundle up and head on over to the outdoor Mammoth Ice Rink. Located on Sierra Park Road, it typically opens during the winter months at 9 a.m. and closes in the late evening. However, public skating hours do vary based on the weather and special events. So it’s best to call ahead.
Once there, you’ll be able to rent pairs of skates or have the rink’s crew sharpen your own for a modest fee. Ice skating lessons and light refreshments are available onsite too. Because it is such a well-maintained ice skating rink, we’d suggest planning on spending several hours enjoying the facilities with your family.
When you are finished ice skating, consider stopping by the Mammoth Lakes Library. It’s located next door and tends to open around 10 a.m. Special programs are offered throughout the year. So depending on the schedule, you may get to enjoy one while you are there.
In addition, you could check-out a few ice skating books to read with the kids. Books that the kids may enjoy are Andrew Breakspeare’s Skating with Bears and Rachel Isadora’s Sophie Skates. Both are geared towards young children and listed in the Mono County Free Library’s card catalog.
After the library, you may want to cap off the day with an early dinner at one of the area’s restaurants or a walk through the nearby Mammoth Ski Museum. It is located on College Parkway.

Considered to have the highest elevation in the Golden State, it’s a great place to fine tune one’s skills and gain exposure.
On most mornings, skiers and snowboarders alike can borrow video equipment from one of the resort’s onsite, OutRide Cutting Room locations. Then hit the 150+ trails or Unbound Terrain Parks for a day of filming and ripping up powder. Afterward, the videos may be polished up using the facilities’ Mac work stations and posted online.
Speaking of trails and parks, don’t be fooled into thinking that Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort is just for beginners. Sure, it has plenty of beginners’ trails and spots for the kids to discover what it’s like to stand up on skis. However, it also has great terrain for intermediate, advanced and expert winter sports fans. Some of which is sure to test even the most stalwart athlete’s mettle.
Up and coming stars that want to perfect their winter sports skills even further may appreciate Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort’s other amenities as well. They include private lessons with renowned instructors, group development programs, camps, workshops and pro sports’ quality training areas. Collectively, the training areas include access to Olympic size half-pipes, athlete focused sports massages, personal trainers and modern fitness equipment.
Of course living the winter sports dream requires more than just access to top-notch facilities. It also requires a chance to compete. The good news is Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort offers plenty of those as well. For example, FIS World Cup hopefuls can sign up for illustrious racing events like the <a href="http://farwestmasters.org/announcements/2014/FWM_Schedule_2014.pdf">Far West Masters</a>. Snowboarding groms, on the other hand, have <a href="http://www.visitmammoth.com/includes/events/Volcom-PB-RJ-Qualifiers/5376/">Volcom’s Annual Peanut Butter and Rail Jam</a> to look forward to. This year, the competition’s qualifiers are scheduled to tentatively take place at the resort on December 14th.
